Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
A fire broke out on the first floor of Ojas Banquet in Topsia on Haute Street around 12 o'clock. The first floor, which serves as a storage room housing carpets and decorative items, caught fire. Preliminary investigations reveal that the blaze was caused by a short circuit in the outdoor air conditioning unit. Three fire engines rushed immediately to the scene. The entire building was evacuated as a precaution, and no injuries have been reported. Firefighters brought the situation under control and prevented further damage.
Gaurav Karnani, owner of GRID, a restaurant located on the ground floor of the building with his office adjacent to the storage area affected by the fire, said the blaze was controlled in time. He added that the fire department officials appreciated the firefighting systems installed in the building, which helped contain the fire effectively.
